Deepsyke tower

Passing close to West Linton, the Talla Aqueduct carries fresh water from Talla Reservoir near Tweedsmuir in the Scottish Borders to Edinburgh. The aqueduct is underground and was was built in 1905. Stone pillars like the one in the third pic below were built to mark the route.

Two miles from the village, this square tower which is not in good condition was allegedly built as an observation point for surveyors during the construction work.
